Today’s lunch errand, which occasionally turns into fun carspotting amid the sea of generic Infiniti QX80s and Honda Pilots.
First, a Mozzerati Jibbly. Not especially rare or interesting, but grocery shopping at noon on a Thursday, it is.
Second, a W211 Mercedes E350 4Matic wagon. Since I don’t live in New England, I don’t see a ton of Merc wagons (1:500 compared to the ML or GL SUVs). Not only that, but GREEN!! And clean, with pretty rare wheels, and parked unusually far from the store with an AMG front plate. All subtle signs of an enthusiast.
I forgot Mercedes even offered anything but black, gray, white, and the occasional red.

I’ve seen lots of the new Maseratis in town. It’s crazy. I expected them to sell like crap here.

Same here....depending on how much driving I do, it might be one a day. Sometimes 3 or 4 if I cruise the full stretch of 280 with all the doctors and lawyers.

I suspect the 211 wagon is a late run car, 08 or 09, with those wheels.
Plenty of Jiblis around Seattle, I have seen some wacky low mileage lease deals for them, and that’s how people like it these days.

Yep, Publix hit Atlanta about 20 years ago and Bham and the Carolinas about 15 years ago.
I am originally from FL, but moved in 1992, so I’ve mentioned it a lot.

Nope — Stadium Trace and 150, near the Hoover Met.
Publix shows up on Oppo almost as much as that Hy-Vee place.
Hooray for regional grocery chain carspotting!

It’s that midwestern grocery store that shows up in a ton of Minnesotan posts. Disproportionately so.
Also, the parking lot of that Publix is getting a brand new Waffle House. I didn’t know they were still expanding.
And across the street the mountaintop was clearcut for some new big mixed use development. 150 is the new 280. God help us all.

The Target exit is already terrible — a long, decreasing radius, off-camber, uphill right-hander. A lot of fun if you know what’s coming and find the apex (in the shoulder stripes). Otherwise it’s code brown for most drivers. Natually everyone slows down to 15mph.

The exit on to 31 and 280 are garbage as well. Yes, let’s have it so people are going opposite directions and merging at the same time.

At least there’s the Galleria flyover — if only they had one in both directions...
All those 280 mandatory u-turns made me mad, but aren’t too bad in practice. Better than starting over from scratch like they’re doing downtown right now. What a mess.
